Within the database server view, a new connection
can be created by selecting the icon
or by clicking the right
mouse button into the database server view and
choosing the menu item (s.
fig. 3).
The connection parameters can be entered into text fields and list boxes. Some of the fields contain default options that may be adjusted according to the requested requirements.
| Connection name | The desired connection name |
| Database | The name of the existing database |
| User-ID | The user name on the database system |
| Password | The password assigned to the user-id |
| Database producer typ | The used database system |
| JDBC-Driver | The matching JDBC-Driver for the database system |
| Host | The host of the destination system |
| (Optional) Portnumber | The port of the destination system. Available default ports will be suggest |
| Servername | The server name on which the database system is running |
| Database position | The path to the database file |
| JDBC-Driverclass | This field isn't editable and shows the used JDBC-Driverclass |
| Class position | A .Jar file which includes
the matching JDBC-Driverclasses for the database system. This can be performed
by clicking the button and selecting the
desired .jar file. Note: The desired driver packages should be downloaded from the manufacturers homepage |
| URL for Connection | This field isn't editable and shows the connection URL obtained from the Inputs |
These enteries can be confirmed by clicking the button . A new database connection is registered within the database server view. After opening the database connection there can be accessed more information's like tables and indices.
